Chris&Wayne, lives on a street line. USA

From 1997 to 2000 I documented the life of people on the edge of absolute poverty in my own neighborhood, Spanish Harlem NY.

Drug addicts, alcoholics, homeless, Vietnam veterans, immigrants. With Chris and Wayne I tried to go beyond the surfaces and bring back moments of intimacy and love. A  2024 follow up is in production "Wayne, the new life"

Kamathipura, India

Asia’s biggest red-light district Kamathipura, is in Mumbai, India.  A poor neighbour where brothels and families share small living spaces, deprived of sanitary system and running water.

I spend 2003documenting the life of some of the sex workers.

I love you. USA

When Rama died the only thing, I could do was to remember.

The photographs I took during the year that we spent together were my attempt to forget that an end might come sooner than I wanted.

North Uganda, Africa

From 2004 to 2007, I stayed in the camps, played with child soldiers, walked with the "night commuters," met rebels in the forest…

I am here to replace the numbers with faces, stories, names. Today, the war is over, and the Acholi people have shown incredible resilience. By adapting Forgiveness and Reconciliation Ceremonies, they have allowed those who returned and their families to overcome trauma and reintegrate into the community, with forgiveness lies the future.

When war comes home. USA

Deployment to Iraq and grieving families NY 2004

The invasion of Iraq in 2003 was the first stage of the war.I photographed those precious moments before leaving for the front and the pain for those who never returned. The Satterfield family welcomed me into their home in Upstate New York,I also connected with the group MSFO, Military Families Speak Out.

Boxing in Ghana

James Town, a district on the outskirts of Accra, Ghana's capital, lies Bukom, another slum, a labyrinth of shacks with tin roofs where people live crowded together. Then boxing comes along, opening a door to a less perilous future.
